Location: Calumet City, IL - Direct Hire
Job Overview: Seeking a qualified Sr. TIG welder for process pipe and pressure vessel fabrication with five or more years of experience fabricating piping and vessels.

Job Overview: Seeking a qualified Sr. TIG welder for process pipe and pressure vessel fabrication with five or more years of experience fabricating piping and vessels.
Qualification & Duties
- Proficiency with GTAW on stainless steels and other alloy materials.
- Five years minimum as a qualified welder.
- Weld test required with stainless steel pipe.
- knowledge of gauges and pressure valves.
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, isometric drawings and P&ID’s.
- Ability to prep, fit, and weld complex pipe spools per print.
- Ability to prep, fit, and weld shell sections, heads and nozzles for vessel fabrication.
- Proficiency in using measuring, layout, fit up, and inspection tooling common with pipe and vessel fabrication. (tape measures, pipe wraps, Pi tapes, angle finder, dial calipers, pipe clamps etc.)
- Proficiency with FCAW on stainless steel preferred.
- Proficiency in the layout, bending and welding of precision tubing. (1/4” diameter to ¾” diameter stainless steel.)
- Understanding of back purging.
- Experience working under ASME B31.3 and ASME sec. VIII div. 1.
- Experience with manual equipment of the trade preferred. (drill press, mill, lathe, hydraulic press, plate bevelers etc.)
- Ability to work closely with a team of welders, machinists and engineers on projects.
- Experience working from written work instruction supplied with drawings.
- Strong proficiency with geometry and trigonometry.
Daily activities:
- Review prints to gather, prep, fit and weld various pipe spools or vessels.
- Maintain project paperwork including sign offs on work instruction and weld maps.
- Maintain material traceability on projects by transferring material heat numbers to prepped and fit parts.
- Quickly pivot tasks to help maintain overall project schedules.
- Work from both written and verbal instruction.
- Aid testing department by welding fixtures as needed.
- Report daily progress and challenges to department head daily.
- Request approval of identified quality hold points.
- Maintain a neat and presentable workspace.
- Aid in labor tasks when needed to help maintain overall project schedules.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency with GTAW on stainless steels and other alloy materials.
- 5-7 years experience for qualified TIG Welder.
- Weld test required with stainless steel pipe (weld penetration test).
- knowledge of gauges and pressure valves.
- Experience working under ASME B31.3 and ASME sec. VIII div. 1.
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, isometric drawings and P&ID’s.
- Experience with manual equipment of the trade preferred. (drill press, mill, lathe, hydraulic press, plate bevellers etc.)
