Job description
- Report directly to the Managing Director-Operations, and will be responsible for the direct technical oversight of a projects and execution teams
- Interface with other disciplines to ensure agreement on project deliverables and the timing of these deliverables
- Lead the development and approval of the project schedule, ensuring that key milestones are identified
- Deliver the project at the sanctioned cost, schedule and performance criteria
- Utilize a system of high-quality contract administration with suitable checks and balances
- Monitor project performance and supplier performance and act quickly on underperformance
- Ensure the application of relevant Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies on all project activities. Promote a strong safety culture in project and functional teams, and in work self-performed or completed by subcontractors
- Assist in managing project activities from project conception through planning, design, construction, start-up, commissioning and transfer to operations
- Assist in the development of project scopes, designs, construction specifications and cost estimates
- Ensure the safe and successful completion of projects in compliance with regulations and within established standards and other project management parameters
- Perform other duties as required
- Able to interact with clients, establish relationship and articulate project wide issues
- Interact with Managing Director of Operations providing relevant information to projects or the Project Teams
- Grow client relations through positive interactions
- Ensure that all Company’s contractual and legal obligations are met, to the satisfaction of the Client and responsibility to the Company
- Keep Company management advised of any problems with the Client’s perception of the Company’s performance
- Participate in project review meetings at regular intervals to review actual progress, identify problem areas and agree remedial actions.
- Ensure that expenditures of labor and expenses are properly monitored, controlled and reported to Manager of Projects and Company management and to the Client as appropriate
- Identify adverse trends which may influence the schedule and/or cost forecasts and take necessary action to minimize them
- Attend and report to Project Reviews with management on the overall status of projects
- Where relevant, visit the job site at regular intervals to review at first hand actual progress, potential problems, and the proposed solutions to any potential problems
