Senior Piping Engineer
Kansas City, MO

Seeking an experienced Piping Engineer for their Oil, Gas & Chemical global practice. As a Piping Engineer, you will work on project teams designing new projects, alterations and redevelopments throughout the refining, midstream, chemicals and renewables industries. Will work on project teams throughout the design and construction process, adapting piping plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs. Will support the execution of multi-disciplined capital projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop project deliverables including Design Basis, Coatings and Insulation Specifications, Piping Stress Analysis packages, Pipe Material Specifications, Procurement Specifications, and all associated material reports.
  • Work with buyers to develop purchase orders to support the procurement of all project piping materials, including participating in kickoff and pre-fabrication meetings to ensure vendor alignment with project documents.
  • Establish the project quality and NDE requirements for all piping materials and working with Supplier Quality to ensure all materials are supplied and fabricated per code and owner’s engineering standards.
  • Review all piping drawings to ensure code and owner’s standards compliance, and that flexibility and structural integrity requirements have been met with associated pipe stress analysis. The actual drawing and design development will be performed by others.
  • Apply strong knowledge of commonly used piping engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the piping engineering services industry.
  • Perform field inspections, measurements or calculations at client jobsites.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical degree
  • 7+ years of mechanical piping engineering experience required. A Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering may substitute for one year of experience.
  • Professional Engineer license (P.E.) required
  • Experience within oil and gas industry
  • Piping Stress Analysis experience is required
  • Working knowledge of ASME B31.3, B31.4 and/or B31.8
  • Engineering consulting experience preferred.
  • Strong computer skills including AutoCAD, Hexagon Products, Ceasar II, Nozzle Pro, etc.
  • Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
