Mechanical Engineer, Solidworks
Purpose of the role:
Converting customers' requests for quotation and specifications into accurate shop drawings and flat layouts. Estimate parts in ERP and provide to our sales team/customers utilizing methods to minimize costs and increase margins. Maintain and regularly review the BOMs and costings data base to ensure all estimates are up to date with current material and process pricing prior to manufacture. Controlling CAD drawings within the ERP including REV changes, deviation requests and Engineering Change Notifications and checking flat layouts are all part of the job
Expectations for the employee:
Our Client is looking for a seasoned individual who can become a catalyst within the organization to drive and implement process control throughout the organization to ensure accurate best practice costings, ensuring the company’s profitability targets are met.
Key responsibilities:
- Based on customer’s request for quotation and technical specifications provide shop drawings and BOMs utilizing best practices
- Prepare customer facing quotation for new parts to the Customer Service team for them to send to the customer
- Enter quotation details into the internal ERP system and ensure along with the Service team accurate reporting for quotes won and quotes lost
- Enter all the relevant details in to our JB2 ERP system and control the Clinet's CAD files
- Introduce and maintain costings to estimated time costing with relation to actual time tracked
- Investigate and identify cost reduction opportunities through best-in-class manufacturing processes
- Estimate as required tooling costs required, along with implement the appropriate maintenance schedule for engineer/production to follow
- As required, prepare capital equipment expenditure request as required in order to drive profitability and cost savings for the organization and our customers. This needs to show the return on investment and then track performance once approved
- Review costings as required and adjust costings with real-time feedback from our traveler’s and customers revisions
Qualifications:
- Manufacturing/Engineering degree
- Experience in technical engineering/manufacturing is essential
- Excel and ERP proficiencies
- Use past performance to drive continuous improvement throughout an organization
- CAD and SolidWorks expertise and an ability to learn/integrate new software
- Knowledge and understanding of engineering and manufacturing techniques and ability to analyze the associated costs
