Sr Mechanical Engineer
Houston, TX 77042
Seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer working onsite with client as a lead in the Houston area. Will be responsible for routine engineering and design tasks of the assigned projects. Power experience is required. Additional experience in sectors such as Petrochemical, Chemical, Refining and LNG would be preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as a Mechanical Lead on Power or Industrial project.
- Provide strong leadership to drive mechanical technical design and project coordination.
- Manage Project Schedules and Budgets as well as provide weekly reports to communicate project status, issues, and needs.
- Prepare and maintain resource plans.
- Prepare equipment inquiry/RFQ packages.
- Perform equipment technical bid evaluations and prepare recommendations.
- Review equipment vendor documents for compliance to project specifications and industry standards.
- Develop technical scopes of work.
- Perform field walk downs to collect information required to complete work.
- Prepare man-hour estimates for proposals.
- Attend Client, Vendor, and Internal Team meetings.
- Present technical information to peers or other personnel for review, to implement operating procedures, and resolve system malfunctions.
- May supervise, coordinate, and review work of a small staff of engineers or technicians on assigned work.
- As a Licensed Professional Engineer, seals and signs all documentation produced by own work.
- May also seal and sign work done by engineers under direct supervision.
REQUIREMENTS
- 10-15 + years working as an engineer in the Power, Industrial Construction/Services Industry, EPC, and LNG sector.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, industrial, chemical, or petroleum engineering
- Experience leading small (2 to 3 engineers/designers) teams.
- Strong background in heat exchangers, pumps, ASME pressure vessels, and ASME piping code
- Experience in the specification of fixed and rotating equipment
- Knowledge of the ASME Codes for pressure vessels and piping systems
- Familiarity with:
- API Standards and Recommended Practices applicable to the specification of refinery fixed and rotating equipment
- Thermal utility and distribution systems (steam, hot water, chilled water)
- Cogen or combined heat and power systems
- Heat pump/heat recovery chillers
- Highly motivated self-starter with ability to work in an interactive and open team environment.
- Able to perform detailed technical document and drawing checking.
- Position requires significant exposure to vendor document review, detailed assessment of vendor design accuracy and specification compliance.
