JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Instrumentation & Controls Designer
Reports To: Department Manager of I&C Group
Status: Full-Time Non-Exempt
JOB SUMMARY: Proficient in AutoCAD with knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel.
Responsible for creating and coordination of all aspects of controls design of wiring diagrams,
details, instrument location plans and panel layouts. The designer works closely with the I&C
project lead and Instrumentation & Controls Engineer.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The responsibilities listed are fundamental to the position and
must be performed successfully to achieve the key performance objectives of the role. Other
responsibilities may be assigned.
General knowledge of industrial instrumentation and control.
Develop, Assemble and Deliver Quality Control packages consistent with project scope.
Performs and ensures all necessary calculations for power supply sizing.
Performs and ensures calculations for wireway sizing and heat calculations for panels.
Review Instrument Specifications for Wiring Details.
Design Instrument Loop and DCS / PLC Wiring Diagrams.
Design Instrument Panel Layouts.
Design Power Distribution Drawings.
Design of Conduit and Instrument Location Plans.
Development and design of Bus Networks.
Design Instrument Installation details/drawings.
Compile cutsheets used in back checking of packages.
Generate and maintain Instrumentation List.
Generate and maintain I/O List.
Generate and maintain Drawing List.
Maintain budget and schedule of assigned projects.
Directing or monitoring of other designers/drafters on project tasks.
Understand and follow Process Plus and multiple client CAD standards.
Maintain proficient AutoCAD skills.
Assist in review and development of design standards and practices.
Motivated to grow and influence growth within the design team.
Education/Experience:
Minimum of 3+ years of work experience
AutoCAD & Navisworks experience
Microsoft Word/Excel
Knowledge of industry standards/codes
