Job Description
Job Title: Lead Electrical Commissioning
This position will require the ability to perform/supervise/document installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and operation of industrial process electrical devices, equipment, and power distribution systems during all commissioning and operational phases of the project. Ability to read and understand all project documents (schematics, protective drawings, piping drawings, relay settings, schedule…). The position may require working nights, weekends and hours outside of what would be considered normal. The ability to work with field engineers, owner’s personnel, construction and team members to complete daily tasks. The current knowledge of electrical testing standards, safety standards and electrical code standards is required.
KEY OBJECTIVES OF THE JOB:
Keen safety awareness and advocacy; multi-discipline technical team leadership, planning and coordination of work within a simultaneous operations environment, having technical expertise relevant to design and operation of assigned systems and liaising with equipment engineers, equipment vendors, construction personnel and operations team members.
CRITICAL SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Be responsible for understanding and executing Safety Policies and Procedures, LOTO and PTW throughout all phases of the project.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary task will be to direct and report daily work for electrical commissioning staff. Coordinate/direct vendors and subcontractors for equipment being checked out and commissioned
The position requires good leadership, communication and supervision skills.
Responsible for the proper evaluation of electrical and control system drawings. Being able to utilize the electrical and control drawings to complete all required tasks and provide corrections as necessary to ensure all drawings are updated for completeness, detail and accuracy. Checks manufactures’ prints and coordinates with project engineers drawings.
Ability to work/create a project schedule and complete assigned daily work to achieve commissioning goals.
Ensure all company policies are being followed by electrical staff and team members.
Ability to train and assist staff and team members in testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, operation and maintenance of the projects electrical equipment and power distribution systems.
Practical knowledge of routine and precedent design and working knowledge of electrical principles for application in solving problems. Extensive practical knowledge of electrical and controls methods and practices.
Ensures all work is performed utilizing safe, reliable and appropriate technical skills to provide required results. May supervise several technicians and other personnel on assigned work.
Responsible for providing detailed information and scheduling within areas of expertise to support the project.
Minimum Requirements
Associates degree in an electrical technology related curriculum or equivalent job related experience (two years of experience equals one year of college).
Must have ten (10) years’ commissioning work experience, in addition to education requirements, in operation and maintenance of electrical discipline. Predominantly a project based position. May be required to supervise other technicians, subcontractors, or client personnel.

Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting and lifting.
Will talk and hear to communicate.
Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls and tools.
May be required to pick up, lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off of platforms/scaffolding using the appropriate fall protection requirements.
Must be able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
