Overview
You will provide electrical engineering services to our client and its customers, including technical support and supervision within the electrical engineering team. The purpose is to manage a team of electrical engineers and designers and oversee their work on oil, gas, and chemical projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of electrical engineers and designers and oversee their work on oil/gas/chemical projects.
- Plans organize, and direct engineering work, ensuring on-time completion, safety-in-design and quality outcomes from conception to completion.
- Collaborate with project management, client, other disciplines to meet project objectives.
- May lead one or more projects while providing guidance for other lead engineers within the program.
- Maintain relationship with project management and client to ensure satisfaction with the quality and progress of the project.
- Candidate shall have the ability to communicate effectively (written, emails, verbal) with the team and with management, and shall possess strong leadership and problem-solving skills; shall have the ability to motivate, create a positive work environment, helping the team to learn, grow and work together to achieve common goals.
- Deliver electrical engineering services that meet our client', its customers' and applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.
- Initiate, manage and if required supervise electrical engineering project requirements.
- Perform electrical engineering services such as:
- participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports and follow required checking procedures.
- ensure the project scope is clear and that changes comply with project change management processes.
- provide assistance and advice during procurement, construction and commissioning activities. For example, write requisitions, conduct technical bid evaluations, and write purchase orders.
- If required, act as the electrical engineering Lead on specific projects.
- If responsible for a team:
- outline project requirements including actively promoting workshare, where appropriate, assign tasks and supervise progress and
- ensure the required services meet our client, its customers, and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, on time and within budget.
- Proactively resolve any discrepancies between our client and its Customer's requirements.
- Keep up to date with the latest developments and technical innovations in electrical engineering.
- If required, assist and support junior personnel within the electrical engineering team.
- Communicate effectively with the electrical engineering team and project stakeholders, including the Customer.
- Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance when required.
Qualifications:
- A recognized and relevant BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (P. E or P. Eng) status US/Canada
- Excellent technical and practical engineering skills and ability to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to our client and its clients.
- Excellent knowledge of the fundamental requirements of the electrical engineering, and the basic requirements of other engineering fields.
- Excellent knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory specifications.
- Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite and electrical engineering specific software, ETAP, PSCAD, SPL.
- Development, design of electrical distribution systems, equipment selection, protective relay selection, power management system configuration, interface management
- Perform/review power systems studies and protective device settings.
- Extensive technical and practical experience in electrical engineering in the same or similar industry including experience in working in multi-disciplinary projects and teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
