Compressor Engineer
Long Beach, California
Duties and Responsibilities:
- With-in the Rotating engineering group, provides technical leadership by for execution activities and discipline deliverables for projects, participates in project execution strategy and planning activities. Knows the project goals and has ownership of the discipline scope/cost/time requirements. Ensures the team meets expectations, and coordinates with other disciplines to ensure project success. Performs administrative functions including implementation of management policies and procedures, implements the Company and Customers Procedures while seeking improvements to work processes and business approaches to better serve the project needs. Develops innovative technical solutions to complex problems.
- May be required to perform the following studies: Driver Selection (Gas/Electric/Steam), VFD motor Drives, Variable speed gears, bearing selections for compressors/motors. Must have experience with Reciprocating and Centrifugal compressors, Lube and Seal Oil systems, Gear box and Mechanical Seal diagnostics.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of API, ANSI, NEMA, ASTM specifications. May be required to travel to the Vendors facilities.
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Typically, minimum of 10 years working with various Compressors and 4 years pump Engineering experience in Petroleum-Chemical, Oil & Gas Industry. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Emphasis on Centrifugal and Reciprocating compressor experience, with working knowledge of API 613, 614, 616, 617, 618, 670 and 671. PE registration is desired, Aramco experience is preferred.
- Will be required to develop/check specifications, data sheets, technical bids, purchase orders, resolve technical queries from vendors on various Compressor and Pump equipment, able to coordinate project requirements with other disciplines, project staff and clients. Will be required to maintain quality of group deliverables through-out the procurement of the equipment. Will be required to support work share activities with other offices on Rotating Equipment deliverables. Demonstrable commitment to HSE Management in a project Environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Experienced in quality control requirements and quality assurance for engineering work
- Should have sufficient experience in the Industry to be able to generate manpower requirements for differing scopes of work as activities are changed during the course of a project.
