Certified Wastewater Assistant Project Manager
Location: Spokane, WA
The Assistant Project Manager position will assist the Project Manager in directing the day-to-day operations and is expected to be able to independently make process and equipment adjustments to meet permit requirements and project objectives. The candidate will be expected to learn about the company and industry best practices and be able to train the operations staff and lead by example. Active attention to detail and problem solving are essential skills under regular operating and emergency situations.
As Supervisor, the candidate will be in direct charge of the operations staff ensuring adequate staff coverage and maintaining the on-call calendar. The candidate will also maintain the facility database and assist in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Lead a dynamic and motivated Operations team in a mode that makes challenging work fun. Participate in the training and development of associates into future company leaders

- Analyzes operational process control procedures, maintenance procedures, and institutes changes when necessary to achieve full compliance with NPDES and air quality permits.
- Assists with planning, organizing, and directing the operation, maintenance modification, and improvement of the Spokane County Regional Water Reclamation Facility (SCRWRF)
- Responsible for keeping accurate operational records and prepares reports required by the client, all regulatory agencies, and facility manager
- Communicates effectively, both written and verbally, with supervisors and others
- Helps prepare Discharge Monitoring Reports for Ecology electronically
- Maintains effective communications and working relationships with employees, the client, consultants and the general public
Minimum Qualifications
- Possession of a Group IV Washington state wastewater operator certificate, or the ability to obtain one within 1 year
- High school diploma or GED
- 5 years of experience in the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment facilities, demonstrating career progression
- Understanding of the technical aspects of wastewater treatment with all of the following: chemically enhanced primary treatment, biological nitrogen removal, membrane filtration, anaerobic digestion
- Demonstrated interpersonal relations and personnel management skills
- Proficient use of computer software including but not limited to SCADA, HachWIMS, Maintenance Connection, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Possess a valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in water/wastewater treatment, engineering, environmental science, or a related field
- Several years of experience with advanced SCADA systems
- Experience with MBR, CEPT, and anaerobic digestion
- Willingness to interact with the larger professional field in Eastern WA and the regional Pacific Northwest Clean Water Association
